HISTORICAL UNDERGROUND

Almost 20 km of corridors, cellars and wells of Pilsen's historical underground stretches under the historical center of Pilsen. The underground labyrinth is the third largest in the Czech Republic. It was built from the end of the 13th century, in some places up to three floors. Its visitors can see a circuit almost 800 meters long. The entrance to the underground is in the brewing house, which houses the Brewery Museum. Its visit is a great choice not only for hot summer days.

EXHIBITION HALL MASNÉ KRÁMY

The butcher's building, built in 1392 in the Gothic style, served its original purpose until the middle of the 20th century. Now it houses the exhibition spaces of the West Bohemian Gallery in Pilsen. An unconventional exhibition hall is located here, which was inaugurated in March 1972. In addition to exhibitions from the gallery's collections, regular concerts and cultural and educational events are held in the building.

ST. BARTHOLOMEW'S CATHEDRAL

The real landmark of Pilsen is the Gothic Cathedral of St. Bartholomew. It boasts the highest church tower in the Czech Republic (102.26 m). After overcoming less than three hundred steps, you will have a wonderful view of the city and the entire region from its balcony. In good weather, you can see not only the peaks of the Šumava and the Bohemian Forest, but also the Alps.

LOOS'S INTERIOR

A set of eight preserved apartment interiors by Adolf Loos is a unique architectural gem. The world-renowned architect, considered the founder of modern architecture, designed them in Pilsen in the 1930s for local Jewish businessmen. Guided tours of the four so far reconstructed Loos interiors are held regularly every week. In addition to the unique design, you will also be introduced to the unique stories of their original owners, in which the often tragic private destinies of individuals are intertwined with historical events before, during, and during the Second World War and during the period of communism.

RADYNĚ CASTLE

The ruins of Radyně Castle belong to the landmarks of Pilsen, just like the cathedral tower or the brewery gate. The original guard castle was founded by Charles IV. It is located a few kilometers outside the city, not far from Starý Plzeň. From its tower there is a beautiful view not only of Pilsen, but also of Brdy. GREAT SYNAGOGUE

The Great Synagogue in Pilsen is the third largest building of its kind in Europe and the fifth in the world. It is the largest synagogue in the Czech Republic, which was supposed to accommodate up to 2,500 people. The monumental building in pseudo-Romanesque style with Moorish elements was completed in 1893.

FARMAPARK

NEW THEATRE

The modern New Theater is the only theater building built in the Czech Republic since 1989. Its precast concrete facade with 28 irregular bubbles resembles a curtain and has become one of the dominant features of the city.
